The Concept
The mixture of the techniques between the artists Miryam Monasterios and Hona Mijares began when in December 2012 they shared a oor at the Exhibition “The Contrast” in Ara Pacis Art Studio in Willemstad, Curacao. The exhibition merged the powerful colour themes from the fuse glass artwork of Miryam Monasterios and the grey drama sense from the photographic work of Hona, giving birth to the concept of Greys & Glass, where the artist Celeste Mijares will take also part, adding shadow movement through her kinetic cuts to the art pieces. The photography integrates the grey drama of the gloom poses that play with the light strokes, telling the stories of farewells. The issue is referred to the never-ending runaways between radicalism and the search of equilibrium which has affected the past years the South-American country wich these three artists are from. It’s not all sadness: there is a light in every life that ed the mainland, the rep- resentation in which gives a meaning to the movements. This representation is achieved through the Kinetic art combined with the dramatic black and white of the photograhs and every once and them a stroke of color and hope, glass and ligth observing an escape from the absurd minds. The emotional sentiment is re ected in the colour plot, where the nal touch uni es the story elements in each work. Seven artworks representing the divine number which embraces hope to a nation that lives in greys and sees its future through a colorful glass. |
